Endodontics focuses on treating the inner structures of teeth, including the pulp and nerves. Endodontists perform root canal therapy to save damaged or infected teeth, preventing extraction and restoring function.
Endodontic treatment, often completed in 1–3 visits, begins with X-rays and local anesthesia. The damaged pulp is removed, and the space is cleaned, shaped, and filled with gutta-percha to seal it. A temporary filling is placed, followed by a permanent restoration or crown in the final visit.
