Panoramic X-rays (also called Panorex®) provide a broad, two-dimensional view of the entire mouth—including the teeth, jaws, sinuses, and surrounding bone structure. This quick, non-invasive imaging technique helps detect issues that aren’t visible during a regular dental exam, such as impacted teeth, jawbone fractures, cysts, and early signs of gum disease.
Unlike traditional bitewing X-rays that focus on specific areas, panoramic X-rays capture a full wraparound image of your face and mouth. The machine rotates around your head, taking images from multiple angles without placing film inside your mouth—making it ideal for patients with strong gag reflexes or difficulty holding intraoral films.
